Among the Heirs of Austen: A Legacy of Four Centuries
We have assembled a trio of speakers who address topics related to Jane Austen in the 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st centuries:
- Professor Joseph Wiesenfarth, University of Wisconsin, Madison, focuses on young Jane Austen in "Rebirth of Juvenile Jane Austen"
- Kathleen McCreary (Mrs. Robert Newberry McCreary), popular lecturer, connects a youthful 19th century Chicagoan from a prominent family to Austen's work in "Julia Newberry at Home and Abroad: The Diary of a Young Chicagoan on the Grand Tour"
- Victoria Hinshaw, JASNA favorite and author of Regency Romances, speaks on one of 20th century's important heirs of Austen in "Georgette Heyer and the Regency Romance: Eight Decades of Popularity and Influence"
Enjoy brunch and ice cream buffets in a gorgeous new space. (See menu below.) Gently used books, JASNA–GCR tee shirts, and Regency period costumes by Regency Recreations will be available for purchase.
